Practical method

Build a portfolio with inspectable skill evidence

A useful portfolio explains what you did and why. An attractive screenshot alone does not establish contribution, method or ability to repeat the work.

01

Connect work to the target role

Choose an occupational activity to demonstrate. Describe the task, constraints and what someone should evaluate. A bounded explained project may be more useful than a long software list.

Fictional example: to demonstrate web integration, show a form, error states and keyboard checks. It need not be a real commercial website.

02

Make contribution explicit

Separate your work from that of a team, template or tool. Identify used resources and decisions. Do not claim a copied deliverable or unverifiable intervention as your own.

A part of a team project can be shown when scope is clear. Explain a concrete decision, considered alternative and limitation rather than making a broad attribution.

03

Prepare inspectable evidence

Provide authorised access or a reproducible demonstration. Retain useful instructions, test cases and explanations. Remove credentials, personal data and confidential information.

Evidence can be a small fictional example, documentation or a sanitised file. An honest account of encountered errors can explain method; it must not invent lived experience.

04

Facilitate evaluation and handover

For each project, order context, contribution, outcome and limitations clearly. Check links and state what can be tested. Select for the role without claiming an entire occupation from one example.

Ask an outside reader what they understood and what evidence is missing. Update the portfolio for real changes rather than merely displaying a recent date.
